The Dallas Cowboys’ 2026 schedule looks tough, but I’m not buying the idea that Dallas is walking into this thing with a quarterback problem.
Matter of fact, I see it the other way around.
Dak Prescott gives the Cowboys the quarterback edge in most of their 2026 games, and that matters more than some folks want to admit.
I’m not talking about highlight clips, rushing yards, media hype, or whatever name gets the loudest praise on Monday morning TV. I’m talking about quarterback play when the game gets sideways.
When the run game stalls, the pocket gets muddy, and somebody has to make a big time throw on third-and-long. I still trust Dak Prescott more than most quarterbacks Dallas will face.
That may not be the national talking point, but around here, it’s a thing.

Dak Prescott Has the Edge in Most Games
The Cowboys will face quarterbacks like Jaxson Dart, Jayden Daniels, Lamar Jackson, C.J. Stroud, Baker Mayfield, Jordan Love, Jalen Hurts, Jacoby Brissett, Daniel Jones, Brock Purdy, Cam Ward, Trevor Lawrence, Matthew Stafford, and Sam Darnold.
There’s talent on that list, and I’m not pretending otherwise.
But if I’m asking which quarterback can carry his team with command, accuracy, timing, and experience, I’m taking Dak Prescott over most of them.
Dak is clearly ahead of Jaxson Dart against the Giants. Dallas sees New York twice, and Dart has not earned a seat at Dak’s table yet.
Dak’s also better than Daniel Jones. He proved that for several years against the Giants. Jones, now with the Colts, can function when everything is clean, but when the game turns into a mess, I want the quarterback who can carry more of the offense.
That’s Dak.

Dak Prescott Clears the Middle Tier
This is where the Cowboys should feel good.
I’m taking Dak Prescott over Baker Mayfield, Brock Prudy, Sam Darnold, Trevor Lawrence, and Cam Ward.
Baker has toughness, Purdy has structure, Darnold has possibly rebuilt his career, Lawrence has tools, Ward has upside.
That’s all fine and dandy.
But tools, upside, and nice stretches do not automatically make a quarterback better than Dak Prescott.
Dak has carried pressure the size of Texas that would make some quarterbacks fold like a lawn chair in August heat. He has handled weekly noise, and still produced like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
So when folks try to tell me all those quarterbacks are on the same level, I just shake my head.

Dak Prescott is Better than Jalen Hurts
Here is where Eagles fans will start chirping, but I’m not moving on from it.
Dak Prescott is better than Jalen Hurts.
Hurts can be a dangerous football player if he doesn’t have a complicated playbook. His legs matter, and his strength matter, but that doesn’t make him better than Dak.
If we are talking about reading defenses, throwing with timing, working from the pocket, and carrying a passing game, I’m taking Dak Prescott.
The Eagles will be tough. I know that, and you know that, but Dallas should not walk into those games acting like it is at a disadvantage at quarterback.
They are not.

Dak Prescott is Ahead of Jayden Daniels
Jayden Daniels can be electric.
He can stress a defense with his legs and turn a broken play into a headache, but he’s not ahead of Dak as a quarterback yet.
Daniels has the upside, and Dak has the resume.
One day, Daniels may pass him, but I’m not handing him that spot because of hype and a highlight reel. He has to earn it.
Until then, I’m taking Dak in both Washington games.

The Real Debates are Lamar, Stroud, and Stafford
There are only a few quarterbacks on the Cowboys schedule who make me think twice.
Lamar Jackson may be the toughest one. If we are talking about total football impact, Lamar can carry a team in a different way because his legs change the whole game. If we are talking pure quarterback play, Dak has the argument.
C.J. Stroud is another debate. He’s young, talented, and confident. Dak still has the better resume, but Stroud is one of the few quarterbacks on the schedule who can push the conversation.
Matthew Stafford is the only quarterback that can match Dak Prescott from a pure quarterback standpoint. Stafford has the arm and elite IQ to match Dak’s game. I like Stafford and if he was younger he would be the best quarterback on the list.
Those are names where I will listen.
Everybody else? I’m taking Dak.
