#DALvsNYG: 2nd-half adjustments gobble Giants up

The Dallas Cowboys overcame a shaky first half and put the hammer down on the New York Giants on Thanksgiving.

The Cowboys beat the Giants 28-20. The defense only allowed one late touchdown in the second half when the game was already over.

This win marks Dak Prescott’s 10th straight victory over the Giants. The only two losses of his career came during his rookie season.

After the brutal first half, the offense and the defense locked down. In the second half, Dallas proved why the Giants had no chance to hang with the Cowboys.

This is usually a game the Cowboys would lose after what we saw in the first half; they looked flat and not ready to continue their momentum after a massive win over the Vikings a week before. With the win, the Cowboys now move to 8-3 on the season.

It’s time to give credit to the coaching staff. The team adjusted both sides of the ball in the second half. The offense seemed more in rhythm, and the defense stopped biting on the misdirection play calls by Daniel Jones and the New York offense.

This team feels different. The team overcame penalties and terrible play calling at times and still found a way to win a HUGE football game within the NFC East. The late score for the Giants made the game look closer than it was.

The offense scored 21 points in the second half, while the defense only allowed a garbage-time touchdown when the game was over.

Prescott bounced back after questionable calls that limited the offense’s success in the first half. He didn’t let it bother him. He made a statement early on the opening drive on the first possession of the second half.

Prescott and the offense went 75-yards in 14 plays, grinding out over seven minutes of game time.

After taking a 14-13 lead in the third quarter, Dallas would never trail again.

Thanksgiving afternoon might have been Ezekiel Elliott’s best game all season. He carried the ball 16 times for 92 yards and one touchdown.

Zeke had some boost we haven’t seen all season. With an off day from Pollard, Elliott was able to keep the ground game afloat for most of the game.

Dalton Schultz was clutch in the second half. He caught two touchdowns from Prescott. The first came on third and goal from the Giant 15-yard line. His second tuddy all but put the game away.

The Cowboys now keep the pressure on the Eagles. Dallas improved to 8-3, and Philly plays the Packers on Sunday night football this week, and you never know. Green Bay might steal that game!

The defense showed everyone why they are one of the best in football. Outside of a few shot plays by the Giants, they looked on par.

Dallas has the next two games at home. They welcome the Colts on Sunday Night Football next week. Then the second team from Texas comes to town, the Texans.

I can’t stress enough how impressive the victory on Thanksgiving was. This team has made me scratch my head for 26 years.

After the first half, I thought, here we go again! They shut me up with the adjustments in the second half.

If this team stops hurting itself with penalties and questionable playcalling, it can play LATE into January. Yeah, I said it.

Let’s sit back and enjoy the rest of the week and hope the teams we need to win take care of business.

Cowboys Nation, lets ride!
