Stop me if you have heard this before, the Dallas Cowboys defense has entered the record books for yet the wrong reason.
Predictably, the depleted Cowboys gave up 11 plays of at least 10 yards as the Broncos finished with 427 total yards of offense.
Dallas also failed to get consistent pressure, finishing without a sack and just one quarterback hit on Denver quarterback Bo Nix.
They have given up at least 30 points in every single game this season, and with that have made their way into the record books yet again for all the wrong reasons.
By The Numbers
The 2025 Dallas Cowboys defense yesterday became one of only 15 teams to allow 250 points and 3,200 yards against them through the first 8 games of their seasons.
Just read that again, do you know how hard it is to give up 250 points and 3,200 yards in 8 games? That means you have allowed 30 points plus every single game. What is even worse is the fact that teams would have to average 400 yards a game to give up 3,200 yards in 8 games.
So, it is time to be real. The offense has to be perfect in order for this football team to win games, and if they are not like yesterday, they will only start to fade.
They had it within 14 points into the third, but a punt at the 50, trusting the defense was the wrong move.
The offense has to go into games knowing if they do not score 35 to 40, they have no chance, and trading for one single player is not going to help how bad they are.
Matt Eberflus continues to try and run all this zone stuff and rush only four and never blitz. It makes no sense.
This defense is on pace to be the worst in NFL history, and it is crazy to even write that.
I don’t know about you, but at this point, every single time they take the field, I expect the other team to score a touchdown, not even settle for a field goal.
I would be thrilled with a bend, but don’t break the defense right now. I see other fan bases complaining about their defense giving up 21 to 24 points, and I am like, the Cowboys give that up in less than a half.
Let’s see how this week goes with the trade deadline, but after this week, I am totally out on this team only because it does not matter the type of offense you have, this defense couldn’t stop me if I lineup at wide out.
Coaching matters most in the NFL. Give Flores this player group and he would make an average defense at worst. Give Eburflus the Philli talent and he would make a bottom 10 defense. Jerry has denigrated coaching all his ownership time and being all in on Eburflus is jerry’s last defiant thumb in the eye to coaching.
Jerry has nothing to do with how Eberflus is coaching!! And he has good reasons to believe in Eberflus!! Eberflus is a really good defensive coordinator, and he’s proven it for years while he was with the colts!! His problem is that he’s trying to make our players fit his scheme when he should be changing his scheme to fit our players!! Idk what it is with you people…. Every time something goes wrong or doesn’t go the way you want it to go, you always have to blame Jerry for it, when Jerry doesn’t have anything to do with it!! He hired Eberflus, but he’s not down on the field telling Eberflus what scheme to run!! That’s all on Eberflus!! But if Jerry did get involved with the coaches decisions, I’m sure he would’ve already told Eberflus to stop running his garbage zone coverage!! But Eberflus is still running it, even though he knows it don’t work, so that should be enough for any smart person to know that Jerry has nothing to do with it!! And in case you people didn’t know, Jerry has 3 rings on his hand, so I think he knows a little something about hiring good coaches!! And like I said, Eberflus is a really good defensive coordinator, he just don’t have the players to run his stupid scheme, so he needs to change it and run a scheme that fits the players he does have!!
Yeah the defense was bad, BUT THE 60 million dollar QB1 produced all of 17 POINTS, 188 passing yards, 0 TDs, AND turned the ball OVER TWICE. You not going to win many games with that kind of production.
IMO, the offense played a sizable contributing role in this beat down.
The offense still got 24 points on the board, that would be enough to win a game if we had at least an average defense, so we lost this game because of the defense!! More specifically, our defensive coordinator who won’t stop running the same old stupid scheme of his!! We have the players to be a top 10 defense, but it’ll never happen as long as Eberflus keeps running his zone coverage garbage!!
Vam, this offense has to score 35 every single week to have a chance……. They have to be legit perfect and that is the problem. Dak is the only reason they have a win this season. Like him or not, this defense is on pace to be the worst in history. He had a bad day, but when the defense can’t get one stop, you have to be perfect on offense. That boy Josh Allen that everyone loves who just won the MVP scored 14 points against the Falcons… It happens.
Hey Shane, again, agree the defense was bad. That said, it usually seems DP has his “bad days” against the better teams. He got outdueled by a second year QB. Since you brought up Allen, maybe people like him b/c he has 7 playoff wins at 29 yrs old. Meanwhile, DP at 32 has 2 first round playoff wins.
IDK, but it seems like every year there is some kind of excuse for DP. It’s not about liking this player or not liking this player. It’s about the QB as leader of the team, leading the team to the important, meaningful games and this is where he has failed. Until he delivers in the PS, doubts about his ability to win when it matters most will remain.
