Dallas Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs is rehabbing his left knee after he had bone graft surgery back in late January of this year.

I had to look up what even had to be gone for that, and it entails transplanting pieces of bone tissue into the joint to simulate growth.

At one point, we heard reports that he was projected to miss possible the entire 2025 season. Now though, last week, he told Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News that his goal is to return in tiem to play week 1.

Diggs, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in the same knee during a Week 3 practice in 2023, is rehabbing in Miami. He is attending the team’s mandatory minicamp this week, though he is not cleared for on-field work.

Diggs has twice made the Pro Bowl, but he has played only 13 games combined the past two seasons because of his knee injuries.

Huge News

The former All Pro led the NFL in interceptions in 2021 with 11, but only has six over the last three years.

A few weeks ago, Diggs also dropped a post on social media.

In a recent post from Diggs he wrote,” My ACL Rehab journey was very successful,” “I ended up coming back to play 2 months sooner than I was suppose to. Follow my journey as I give you direct insight on how I did just that! Thankful for everyone who played a role with getting back out there! Episode 1 out now on YouTube!”

Here is a link to that YouTube video if you would like to watch.

If the Cowboys somehow get Diggs back for week one with DaRon Bland healthy, that is massive news for new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.

The secondary right now is probably one of the weakest spots on the roster, but you get a guy like Diggs back for the opener, it takes a step up.

I think they should still look to bring in a guy like Stephon Gilmore, who is a free agent. He played awesomely for the Cowboys a few years ago, and he would only have to be the third guy on the depth chart.

That would take major pressure off everyone in that room.

We will see how the rest of the summer ends up, but as long as Diggs does not have any setbacks and continues to work like he has been, I honestly could see him playing week one, but we have a long way to go.

Mr. Diggs, the most important thing is your long-term health. But if you’re able to get back on the field, we can use a Cowboy like you . Best regards. A friend

It only takes about 6 months for a bone graft to take especially in a young healthy Adult so yeah I think it’s possible he’ll be able to go day one

I’m going to pass on Gilmore… I’d like to find out what Cason, Elam have 1st and finally see if Mukuamu can play. Gilmore would be a progress stopper at this point in his career.
