Under-the-radar players who could be key to Cowboys success

With it being the heat of the offseason and very slow on the updates with the Dallas Cowboys, it makes it nice to be able to put out these types of posts.

These are the types of posts I enjoy writing and then looking back on them when we get to November or December and see how they fair.

The Dallas Cowboys improved this offseason, but still have a few players that many folks outside close fans are forgetting about that could help them have a good year in 2026.

Again, these are my thoughts, and it is okay if you don’t agree or have a different opinion. If that is the case, drop your thoughts in the comments. No need to call me an idiot because you know just as much as I do, but have different thoughts.

Sam Williams

Sam Williams had a very down year in 2025. He played 17 games but only started 5 and ended with just one sack.

The two years before that, though, he had 4.5 and 4 sacks, something that they are going to need from him again this season, and after re-signing a one-year deal worth just over $2.5 million.

With Dante Fowler gone, Donovan Ezeiruaku and Malachi Lawrence are the two guys right now that Williams is going to have to battle for snaps, but Williams could provide quality snaps if he continues to do well this summer.

Sam Williams contract breakdown
1 year, $2.5 million, $3 million max

Bonus: $600,000

2026 base: $1.4 million (guaranteed) plus $500,000 in active roster bonuses

There are $500,000 in incentives for playtime and sacks tied to making playoffs.

Dallas is about to have their third new sack leader in as many years with Clowney still unsigned, so they will need a guy like Williams to provide 4 or 5 sacks, because I find it hard to see anyone on the roster currently who you could bet all your money on to have double-digit sacks.

Devin Moore

Looks guys, I am probably higher on Devin Moore than most, and I understand that he has to stay healthy and on the field, I understand that!

Yet, if he can, I think he will become one of the best players in the Cowboys secondary. If he hadn’t dealt with so many issues in college, he was going to be a first round pick, but just like Jermod McCoy, he slipped and slipped and slipped because of his injury history.

Moore played in only 30 games during his four years in Gainesville. He suffered multiple shoulder injuries, back injury, and concussion. He also had groin surgery after his final year.

That is why this post is about players for Dallas who are under-the-radar, and Moore fits that mold perfectly. He is a guy that, if on the field, will help the Cowboys’ cornerback room on day one.

He could be hurt tomorrow, but nonetheless, I really like Moore.

Ryan Flournoy

With so much attention to George Pickens and the tag and CeeDee Lamb and how great this duo can be, let’s not forget about the chance Ryan Flournoy has to be a excellent player this season.

Flournoy, a 2024 6th-round pick (No. 216 overall), had a mini-breakout season in 2025 with 40 receptions for 475 yards and 4 touchdowns in just 4 starts while taking a backseat to wide receiver Jalen Tolbert.

Tolbert is now gone and the WR3 job is for Flournoy to lose.

Dallas has so many weapons on offense that someone is going to have favorable matches time and time again, and I think Ryan is going to be that guy.

Jake Ferguson had a bounce back year in 2025, so expect him to be good again, and Javonte Williams had over 1,000 yards rushing and my guess he will top that yardage again.

Updated Dallas Cowboys wide receivers as of now:

CeeDee Lamb
George Pickens
Ryan Flournoy
KaVontae Turpin
Jonathan Mingo
Anthony Smith
Marquez Valdes-Scantling
Parris Campbell
Treashon Holden
Tyler Johnson
Jordan Hudson
Camden Brown

Dallas has a lot of good players, and enough to win 10 or 11 games and make the playoffs. They improved the defense and lost nobody on offense.

The three players above could provide a nice spark at different times this season and make a few big plays.
