Cowboys Looking to Trade For Offensive Tackle Chuma Edoga

Wow, right after I make a post about how rumors that Offensive Tackle Andrew Whitworth could join the Dallas Cowboys, the next day there is a new rumor about another offensive tackle being traded. This time, it’s Tackle Chuma Edoga, from the New York Jets.

Unlike with Whitworth, this trade could most likely occur. This is because the Cowboys have been reaching out to the Jets and trying to acquire Chuma to their team themselves.

Here’s a little bit about the big man. He was selected by the Jets in the third round of the 2019 draft and was the 92nd overall pick. Chuma has played in a total of 12 games but starred in none this previous season. Although, in this year’s preseason he has shown some improvements in his blocking skills and has been performing better than before.

Now we all know that the biggest problem with the Cowboys right now is their offensive line (upon penalties). So would this new player be a good fit for them? At this point, as I have stated in past articles, the Cowboys need as much muscle on the line as they can get.

Trading for Chuma would be a good option just so they can have more choices for their o-line. Now we must look at the next problem of this trade. Do the Jets need Chuma just as much as the Cowboys do?

The New York Jets aren’t the “power o-line” team either. As a matter of fact, the Jets had one of their offensive tackles go down to injury, similar to what happened to Tyron Smith from the Cowboys. Mekhi Becton, Offensive Tackle, suffered a fracture on his right knee cap and is now likely to miss the rest of the season.

That being said, would the Jets even consider trading Chuma? I believe so, this is because after Mekhi’s injury the Jets signed Pro Bowler Duane Brown to their team. He is a great offensive lineman and will be sure to cause an impact on the Jets. That now gives the Jets some more room to trade their other lineman if they wanted.

Those are a lot of offensive lineman names to keep track of. It seems Chuma has a lot more potential than another lineman from the league. Picking him up should be a great addition to the team overall. This week we will be seeing if this trade rumor goes on to become an actual trade.

I say if The Cowboys do sign OL Chuma Edoga, His best fit is at LG, it’ll be some growing pains with Tyler Smith at LT, but in the end this is why The Boys drafted Him, IMO I believe the line will take some time to come together and be in sync, but I also strongly believe this defense is gonna create havoc and carry the team until Joe Philbin gets Them right where They need to be.

I do think our defense will be amazing this year. If only our line was up to par with the rest of the team. But yes, the LG position fits Chuma. Hopefully, they can manage to get a hold of him.

I doubt the boys will get a deal done with the jets. Tyler Smith will be a poor tackle his first year. The O line will be the downfall of the boy’s season. If they do get Chuma it will be a miracle.

I was hoping that Tyler Smith would be a great asset to the team but I’m not so sure anymore. But yes, the O-line is not going to be very good this year.

Chuma seems more a warm body than a solution .

We all know that Jerry Jones will not go after any free agent to build our O line or even to band aid it together. He is set to believe our o line is fine with who we have.If you remember the time Tyron went down when we were playing the Giants and who got injured in that game? You remember how well our offensive line did that season? We were horrible at every position but that was mainly because our offensive line was horrible. Most NFL teams live and die by how well their offensive line does both defense and offense and our team is no exception. If you can’t block you don’t score which means your 4 and out which also means your defense is on the field a whole lot more which eventually they get exposed and well that’s been our story for the last 3 years and Jerry has done nothing to fix or upgrade our offensive line.I don’t know how he thinks we can win with the line we had/have.We won’t and I don’t see Jerry realizing this anytime soon.Funny how we haven’t won a super bowl since the 90’s when we had the most dominant line in football.Jerry is killing our team 1 season at a time and until he realizes we won’t win without a dominant line again,we are screwed

There’s a reason The Boys still have Salary cap money to spend, alotta free agents will be looking for work in the next couple of days, will Jerry Jones use it? who knows! only time will tell.

I do not think a cowboy will make my fantasy lineup this year with the exception being TE…CeeDee did alright last year, but not what I expected…
