After a blowout Week 2 loss against the Saints, the Dallas Cowboys will face a major early-season test at home against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3. To win this one, Dallas will need an all-hands on deck effort, which means the injury report is critical to their effort.
Against the Saints, the offense was without star Tight End, Jake Ferguson. He suffered a nasty looking knee injury late in the season opener against the Browns.
Two weeks later, it seems Ferguson and some other key Cowboys will be ready to go. On the flip side, the Ravens have some players that Dallas is hoping to avoid.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys listed 14 players on the final injury report for this week, which is nearly double the number from Week 1 and 2. It will also be the first week Dallas has questionable designations heading into the game, with three.
Outside those questionable designations, all remaining 11 have no designation heading into this matchup.
No Designation:
- WR Brandin Cooks (NIR-Rest)
- CB Trevon Diggs (Foot)
- TE Jake Ferguson (Knee)
- S Malik Hooker (Shoulder)
- LB Eric Kendricks (NIR-Rest)
- DE Marshawn Kneeland (Calf)
- WR CeeDee Lamb (Ankle)
- DE DeMarcus Lawrence (NIR-Rest)
- CB Jourdan Lewis (NIR-Rest)
- G Zack Martin (NIR-Rest/Knee)
- DE Tyrus Wheat (NIR-Personal)
The Cowboys no designation list on the injury report this week reads like a Pro Bowl roster. Some of Dallas’ best players wound up listed this week, and while this group is all ready to go, it is still eerie seeing them on the injury report at all.
Starting wide receivers Brandin Cooks and CeeDee Lamb both appeared on this week’s report.
Cooks was listed as resting, while Lamb caught the eyes of the fans with an ankle injury listed, though they were both practicing in full by the end of this week.
As alluded to earlier, Ferguson was a full participant by the end of the week and carries no designation this week. It is fantastic news for a Cowboys’ offense that struggled in his absence against New Orleans.
Concluding on the offensive side, G Zack Martin is also a full go this week after being limited on Wednesday.
Starting on the defense, the secondary was well-represented on the no designation list this week. Starting Safety Malik Hooker, as well as Cornerbacks Trevon Diggs and Jourdan Lewis all appeared on the injury report.
Hooker was listed with a shoulder injury, Diggs with a foot injury, and the veteran Lewis with a rest designation.
Unfortunately for Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews, all three will be out there on Sunday.
Finally, on the defensive line, Defensive End’s Marshawn Kneeland, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Tyrus Wheat all carry no designation as we head into game day.
Both Lawrence and Wheat were just rest designations, while Kneeland was again there with a calf designation.
Questionable:
- WR Jalen Brooks (Ankle)
- DT Mazi Smith (Back)
- TE John Stephens (Hamstring)
For the three questionable listings on the Dallas injury report this week, we’ve got three young guys that are dealing with some nagging injuries.
Wide Receiver Jalen Brooks has an ankle injury, causing him to miss Wednesday’s practice before being a limited participant on both Thursday and Friday. The rumor is that Brooks is likely to play against Baltimore.
Former first-round pick, Defensive Tackle Mazi Smith is questionable with a back injury.
He did not participate in practice on either Wednesday or Thursday, but he was able to be a limited participant on Friday. Like Brooks, Smith is expected to play Sunday.
Lastly, on the Cowboys side, we have Tight End John Stephens, who seems to be progressing from the hamstring injury that has sidelined him for both of the team’s first two games.
In Week 1, Stephens was out in the final injury report, and in Week 2, he was doubtful.
The questionable designation is a major step-up, and he could make his NFL debut this Sunday against the Ravens.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens carry nine players on their final injury report heading into this matchup.
In stark contrast to Dallas, the Ravens have just five no designations, three questionable’s, and one player listed as out.
No Designation:
- CB Jalyn Armour-Davis (NIR-Personal)
- S Kyle Hamilton (Back)
- OLB Adisa Isaac (Hamstring)
- T Ronnie Stanley (Ankle)
- OLB Kyle Van Noy (Eye/Groin)
The defense dominates the Ravens no designation list, as five of the six listed are on that side of the ball.
Most importantly, All-Pro Safety Kyle Hamilton did not practice on Wednesday with a back issue, before being a limited participant on Thursday and a full participant on Friday. He will be good to go for the Ravens.
Also in the secondary, young Cornerback Jayln Armour Davis was listed with a personal designation at the beginning of the week, before returning to practice fully to end off the week.
Two Outside Linebacker’s are also on this side of the final injury report, with Adisa Isaac and Kyle Van Noy both present.
Isaac is dealing with a hamstring, while the veteran Van Noy has a lingering eye and groin issue. Both will be good to go on Sunday it appears.
The only no designation on offense was a big one, as Tackle Ronnie Stanley came out clean on the injury report despite his ankle issue.
Questionable:
- WR Deonte Harty (Calf)
- OLB David Ojabo (Quad)
- CB Nate Wiggins (Neck/Concussion)
On the questionable designations for Baltimore, it starts with Wide Receiver Deonte Harty, who is dealing with a calf issue.
As both a wide receiver and a return specialist, Harty is an important piece of the Ravens game plan. With Harty being a full-go at the end of the week, he should be able to play on Sunday.
For Outside Linebacker David Ojabo, it’s a quad injury that has him as questionable.
Ojabo also ended up practicing in full by the end of the week, which is a good sign for his prospects to play. The young linebacker is an important part of the Baltimore front-seven, so this is a major plus for them.
Finally, rookie Cornerback Nate Wiggins is dealing with both a neck injury and concussion concern that kept him limited at best in practice this week.
Coach John Harbaugh said he was “full speed” and “looked great” in practice, but ultimately this will come down to whether or not the doctors can clear him in concussion protocol.
Out:
- G Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu (NIR-Personal)
The only player out for Baltimore this week is Guard Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu.
It’s a personal designation for Aumavae-Laulu.
This second-year Oregon alum was expected to be a starter on the offensive line this season, so this is a fairly important loss for the Ravens.
We will see how this impacts the Baltimore offense this Sunday as Dallas looks for a critical win.
