The Dallas Cowboys’ Front Office has pretty much seen and done it all in the 2025 offseason so far. They’ve been trading, signing free agents, and drafting.
Compared to last year, it seems they decided to actually go “all-in” this season.
They have made three trades to land receiver George Pickens, cornerback Kaiir Elam, and linebacker Jack Sanborn. They added two free agent running backs in Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders.
And Dallas beefed up its offensive and defensive lines in the first two rounds of the draft.
They still have to navigate Micah Parsons’ contract extension.
But, at the very least, the Cowboys have had a much better offseason in 2025 than they had last year. But just exactly where does Dallas’ Front Office rank in the division?
Philadelphia Eagles
Yes, Dallas has been busier this year. But they are still well behind the Eagles.
Philadelphia has a General Manager who actually looks at his roster on a daily basis with an eye on what he needs to do to improve it.
Then Howie Roseman actually goes out and does it.
And the funny thing is, he doesn’t do the bargain bin shopping approach either. Yet, somehow, the Eagles never seem to run out of cap space every year.
In the 15 seasons since he was promoted to General Manager, Philadelphia has played in three Super Bowls and won two of them.
The Eagles have won the division in six of those 15 seasons. Clearly, their Front Office is the cream of the division’s crop.
Washington Commanders
Back in 2023, an ownership group, led by Josh Harris and Magic Johnson, bought the Commanders from Daniel Snyder.
They let the 2023 season play out as they got their bearings. In 2024, they served notice that this was a serious franchise once again.
They quickly cleaned out the coaching room and revamped the roster.
Getting the best college quarterback in the draft in 2024 in Jayden Daniels didn’t hurt either.
Washington and Dallas are technically tied for second in the division’s front offices. But the Commanders get the tie-breaker for heading in the right direction in a short period of time.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys have had the same owner since 1989. While Will McClay’s presence has been felt in the draft, it’s still Jones Inc. running the show.
A 29-season championship drought is why they sit below the Commanders here.
That and huge question marks on the roster, as well as uncertainty over how well, or how poorly, they drafted in April are also holding them back.
If the offseason moves pay off, and if those draft picks overperform, the Cowboys will leapfrog Washington and close the gap considerably on the Eagles.
New York Giants
The moves the Giants made in 2024 might handicap this team for years.
They allowed a solid RB1 to walk out the door in Saquon Barkley in order to keep quarterback Daniel Jones. Jones didn’t even make it to the end of the season before getting released.
New York is in the cellar in this category.
And don’t be surprised if they rank fourth in the division across the board. Especially at the end of the 2025 season.
