The Dallas Cowboys are signing wide reciever Martavis Bryant, after they had him work out at their facility.
Bryant most recently played in the NFL in 2018 with the Raiders.
He was a fourth round pick by the Steelers in 2014, and has his best year as a pro in 2015 with Pittsburg.
He caught 50 passes for 765 yards and six touchdowns. I am not holding to much stock on this move, but we will see what it brings.
Bryant was suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, and then suspended for the entire 2016 season for another violation.
In 2017 he returned to the Steelers but didn’t play as well, and in 2018 he was traded to the Raiders.
I could not tell you if he has anything left in the tank, but clearly the Cowboys saw enough in his workout to sign him.
From the video below, it seems he can still run.
He has been fully reinstated to NFL after being suspended with no limitations.

The Cowboys have seen struggles with Michael Gallup, but we know that is not the reason why he got signed.
Dallas has Brandin Cooks and Jalen Tolbert, and if Cooks is up and down with his target share, this Bryant signing is simply for depth.
He has been out of the league for how many yards? Early reports are saying he posted a video of the GPS results in a recent workout and he was hitting almost 22mph.
Lets not ignore the fact he is 6’4, so if nothing, use him as a red zone target and let him go up and get the football.

Soft part of the schedule
As the Cowboys gear into the softer part of their schedule, it is not a bad idea to see if he can bring them anything in red zone.
The Cowboys should be sitting pretty the next time they take on the Eagles, after their next games feature the Giants, Panthers, Washington and Seattle.
Very well might not lose another game from now until they see Philly again.
Allow him some time to get an understanding with the system and
Let’s see what Bryant brings. Get him into the building and see if he can still play at solid level.
He is just as fast as Cooks, but clearly a much bigger target.
We will see how the next few weeks go, and maybe he finds the end zone once or twice.
It is a very low risk, high reward move.
I just don’t see much happening as he has not played in a handful of years. Hope I’m wrong.

This guy may be a good addition if he has his head on straight. Physically he looks the part so I’m hoping for the best here despite him being out of the NFL for 5 years.
One problem this year is WHY is the second Cowboy to CeeDee in receiving yards is Jake Ferguson. Why did they bring in Cooks, who is considered more of a deep threat, and apparently QB1 likes to dink and dunk to his TEs? An example of this is when Schoonmaker came up short of the goal line, Cooks was WIDE OPEN IN THE END ZONE. Don’t think QB1 is a very good at looking at the entire field and will stay stuck on his first option. Yeah, he had good stats for the game but on the plays to get the win, he came up short, again vs a quality team, and he is now 17 -27 against playoff teams for the career.
Cooks now has just 165 yards in 7 GAMES. Two ex-Cowboys on this ridiculous merry-go-round at WR, Amari Cooper and Noah Brown almost had that total in their SINGLE GAMES on Sunday. Noah had 153 yds on 6 catches and is averaging 19.1 Y/R for the year (with a rookie QB). Amari had 139 on 5 catches, and 17.6 Y/R for the year. They let Amari go for a FIFTH ROUND PICK?!?!?! in a TERRIBLE TRADE for Dallas. Noah was a free agent at good time for him as he put up pretty good numbers the year before thanks mainly to Cooper Rush actually THROWING him the ball during his 5 game (4-1) stint as QB1.
On the bright side moving forward for their next two games, they will (should) beat up on a Tommy DeVito led Giants team and then a 1-7 Panthers team.
