Are the Eagles already running away with the NFC East?

The Philadelphia Eagles have created a gap between themselves and the rest of the NFC East, and we’re not even yet one-quarter of the way through the season.

The Eagles are already two games clear in the division. They are the only undefeated team in the NFC.

As much as I hate to say it, they are the team to beat in both the division and the conference.

Maybe even in the entire NFL.

Dallas Cowboys (1-2-1)

Well, at least they aren’t tied with the Giants for dead last in the division. Then again, they are still in third place after Sunday’s tie finish against Green Bay.

The Cowboys’ defense is the glaring weakness.

In the two games that Dallas has lost, the offense has generated 20 and 14 points. In the other two, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys’ offense has put 40 on the board.

The first time was the overtime win against the Giants.

The second was the overtime tie on Sunday.

Dallas’ offense has to score 40 points to have a chance to walk off the field with a win, it seems. And apparently, even 40 isn’t enough.

The Cowboys’ offense cannot be counted on to score 40 every week.

At some point, the defense has to show up.

Next Game: at New York Jets, Sunday, Noon.

New York Giants (1-3)

Maybe it was the lack of tape on a new quarterback? Or maybe the Giants should have started Jaxson Dart from the beginning?

Whatever it was, the Los Angeles Chargers are probably wishing New York had waited until next week to start the rookie.

Dart finished with a touchdown pass, and a 15-yard touchdown run to cap off his first NFL drive on Sunday.

Not only did he not turn the ball over, thanks to some help from his defense, he won his first professional start. It also gave the Giants their first win of the season.

Malik Naber may miss the rest of the 2025 season for the Giants in the NFC East.

Unfortunately, the win cost them their star receiver, Malik Nabers, who appears to be lost for the year with a knee injury.

Next Game: at New Orleans, Sunday, Noon.

Philadelphia Eagles (4-0)

If the Eagles do win the NFC East again, they can thank their special teams for starting the season 4-0.

Last week, they blocked two field goal attempts to hang on and beat the Rams at home. On Sunday, they started the game with a blocked punt for a touchdown.

That seven points loomed large as Philadelphia hung on to beat the Bucs in Tampa Bay.

They keep this up, they won’t need the Tush Push to win games.

Next Game: vs. Denver, Sunday, Noon.

Washington Commanders (2-2)

The Commanders need to figure out how to win on the road, especially if they want to catch the Eagles and win the NFC East. Or even just make the playoffs to begin with.

The Commanders fell behind to the Falcons by 10 after the first quarter.

Forced to play catch up, Washington never could quite track the Falcons down.

The good news is they are still in second place at 2-2, two games back, and they should get Jayden Daniels back. The bad news is they hit the road against a solid team next week.

Next Game: at Los Angles Chargers, Sunday, 3:25 p.m.

Please tell Jerry to fix the defense, that is our only hope to save the season. We need just 1 impact player.

What is really “glaring” is ONE win in 4 games. They MUST beat the Jets or playoffs may be a fantasy. They most likely won’t catch Philly, and too many other good teams will be the wild cards. If that is the case, they can look back at the 1st and goal from the 4 yard line in OT and kick themselves. They couldn’t get four yards in three tries!!!
