With just five days until their first regular season game of 2016, the Dallas Cowboys are still finalizing the final spots on their roster's practice squad. Ryan Russell, a fifth round pick by the team in 2015, was released days after clearing waivers and being signed to the practice squad...
The Dallas Cowboys have long been known as America's Team. This distinction is in large part due to the fact that the organization has one of the largest fan base in not only Northern America, but the world. I always think it's really cool when I get a comment or...
The Cowboys are working towards tomorrow's cut deadline by dealing with injured players first. As announced a few hours ago: https://twitter.com/HelmanDC/status/770368564482052096 Josh Thomas, cornerback, was a fifth-round pick of the Cowboys in 2011. He did not make the team as a rookie and floated around the league for several seasons. He...
The Cowboys' selection of linebacker Jaylon Smith in last April's draft has been met with skepticism from the very beginning. It has only increased throughout the offseason. Dallas spent their second-round pick, the 34th overall in the 2016 draft, on the former Notre Dame standout. They picked Smith despite the knowledge...
The Dallas Cowboys defense was hit hard due to the suspensions of Rolando McClain, Randy Gregory, and probably most importantly DeMarcus Lawrence. All three of these players were more than likely starters and now the Cowboys coaching staff is left trying to find out who will replace them. It's understandable...
Rolando McClain has earned a 10-game suspension for repeated violations of the NFL drug policy. He did not participate in the team's voluntary activities and showed up to the mandatory minicamp overweight. He has no-showed training camp and there is no indication that he wants to play football anymore. So, why...
Facing the suspension of former starting middle linebacker Rolando McClain and the potential season ending injury to first round pick Jaylon Smith, the Cowboys certainly have a need for linebacker depth. To fulfill this need, the Dallas Cowboys are expected to sign former Iowa Hawkeyes' linebacker James Morris, as reported...
Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys have been known to bring in players with "red flags", and sometimes turn them into exceptional stories that end up playing at a very high level with the star on their helmet. Others, of course, have not worked out - and these are...
One of the most amazing feelings in the world is peeling that little sheet of plastic off of your new phone. It's almost as great as the phone itself. The voices of Cowboys Nation have been experiencing a similar sensation on Saturday as the Cowboys began their quest for Super...
Yesterday, in Part Three of our Camp Preview Series, we talked about which position on the 2016 Cowboys roster was going to be the strongest. Naturally, it's now time to ask... What Will be the Weakest Position on the Team? Jess Haynie ( @CowboysAddicts ) - Even without the suspensions,...
The Dallas Cowboys 2016 Training Camp begins the end of this week! We're as excited as you are! To whet our appetites even more for the return of football, our Inside The Star team worked together to compose a six-part Camp Preview Series. To kick things off, we each shared what...
Veteran linebacker Justin Durant is back with the Dallas Cowboys, and here to help stabilize the uncertainty that exists currently at the linebacker position. With the team for their 2014 NFC East winning playoff run, Durant was a vital part of Dallas' opportunistic defense, making impact plays when it...
The Dallas Cowboys made a move today and signed veteran linebacker Justin Durant to help provide experience to the linebacker position. In order to make room for Durant the Cowboys released defensive tackle Casey Walker. https://twitter.com/dallascowboys/status/755117923543359488 The move isn't all that surprising considering that middle linebacker Rolando McClain was suspended for...
Earlier this morning, a report was shared involving the Dallas Cowboys and one of their former employees: https://twitter.com/mikegarafolo/status/752493715827064832 McClain's suspension will be 10 games as it's a repeat violation of the NFL's substance policy. While Dallas currently has several young linebacker prospects and couple of veterans in Andrew Gachkar and Kyle...
It was 5 days ago when the Dallas Cowboys found out that their #55, Rolando McClain, would be suspended for the first ten games of the 2016 NFL season. Today, July 5th, the Detroit Lions released their own #55 - Stephen Tulloch. With so many 5s going on, it makes sense...
As you have probably already heard, Dallas Cowboys starting middle linebacker Rolando McClain has been suspended for the first 10 games of the 2016 season. This suspension comes on the heels of McClain skipping Organized Team Activities last month, and reportedly coming to mandatory mini-camp out of shape. Most of the...
The time period between when mini-camp practices end and training camp begins is arguably the slowest and most worrisome for NFL teams, players, and the fans alike. Just about anything that is newsworthy around the NFL is of the negative nature. This is something the Dallas Cowboys know all too...

By now you know the news, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain has been suspended 10 games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Now a linebacker group which has the talented names of Rolando McClain, Sean Lee, and Jaylon Smith will be lucky if they even get to see one of these players in action for the majority of next season. It's starting to look rough for the linebackers, and the defensive line will certainly be no better. The back end of the Cowboys defense, while not exactly elite, is possibly the strongest unit on this side of the ball right now. Byron Jones is coming off of an excellent rookie year and is expected to make a big jump in year 2, Orlando Scandrick is returning from his season ending knee injury, and the other corners have shown they can be solid contributors to the defense.
I've never bought into the idea that Dallas' second-round rookie, linebacker Jaylon Smith, would play in 2016. His knee injury seemed far too serious to be worth the risk of trying to rush him onto the field. Still, there was a lingering hope that he might have a quick recovery and be able to contribute soon. ESPN's Ed Werder all but smashed that hope with his report yesterday: No big deal, in my opinion.
